Uni Football

Kate coaches the Edinburgh University girls soccer team for those who aren't up to speed. She was also recently asked to be on one of Scotland's Premier League clubs. It's basically the best women's soccer players in the UK. She doesn't like to tell people, so I will:)

A few days ago I watched her work ALL day in the kitchen to prepare for her girls to come over for a Christmas party. I walked in later in the evening with a house full of ladies. She's worked so hard at building relationships with these girls. It's showed.

The girls made booklets and they wrote a thought to each other. Some of the things they said to Kate blew me away! She's been such a positive influence on these ladies.

the surf and maid victoria

Had some sweet costumes worn by some people tonight at the Eikon Murder Mystery. It was our second annual party and enjoyed the atmosphere.

It's always a little uncomfortable for everyone at first to act like a character, but by the end of the evening, most are fully immersed in their roles.Kate was Maid Victoria, a girl engaged to be married to Lord Rufus through noble arrangement, yet was secretly in love with my character, Surf Wyatt, a person without noble birth. Each person was trying to figure out the murderer, but also attempting to achieve their own personal objectives that only they knew about.
Kate leaves for the states tomorrow for some much-needed family time. I'm heading home early next week. We're both looking forward to being home for a few weeks.

holiday tips: ice skating

Had a lot of laughs today.

Mike and I had been talking about filming a figure skating routine in the Princes Gardens during the holiday season a year ago. This afternoon Mike, in his green tights, mesh shorts and elf hat, landed on the ice with about 40 other people and did a dance routine to the Napolean Dynamite song.

It's part of our "holiday tips" video series.

Busy week with the Murder Mystery tomorrow evening, Open Mic on thursday and a house party at our flat friday night. Tis the season.

the lights

Christmas season in Edinburgh is simply fantastic. I can't say enough about it's beauty and we're a 2 minutes walk from our flat to views like these every evening. Once again, simply fantastic.

bringin' the heat

Tony brought the heat this morning at Eikon. Probably one of the better messages I've heard Tony share. Here is a snippet.

Incidentally, you can catch the whole message on our podcast, either in video or audio format.

2nd Annual

We're having our first, second annual anything next week. It's our Eikon Murder Mystery Christmas Party. Gonna be pretty sweet.

If anyone hasn't heard of these, it's a party that is built around a storyline. Each person that comes is given a character and they must act and dress like that particular character. Given a set of clues and objectives, each person much talk with others to find out who in fact was the murderer at the party.

It's such a great way to meet people, dress up and have a laugh. Last year it went off great. Hopin' this year is much the same.
