Environmental Wardens at our door

One of the things about living on High Street is the garbage collection. Pick-up days are Monday and Thursday, which isn't all bad, unless you host a get together on Friday and a few big packages arrive on Saturday then miss the pick-up on Monday... :) This means you have smelly garbage sitting in your flat for nearly a full week!

Well, anyway, we walked in the door last night and, well, it was just time to take the garbage out, regardless of pick-up times. We've had to do this before; Dave had his "spot" where he'd add our garbage to a business' dumpster. Well, apparently the business didn't appreciate this large of a donation to their dumpster, so they took it out and set it in an alley then called the "Environmental Wardens".

These Wardens, who were really very nice, opened our garbage and went through it looking for anything with a name. Remember those packages we got? Yah, they found the shipment tags with Dave's name and our address on them. So, this afternoon we had two Wardens at our door interrogating Dave and, in the end, fining us 50 pounds.

Lesson learned. :)

Tut Tut!! Can't believe that missionaries would be involved in an event that led to a fine! What next?

Boy, we are just clocking up fines at Eikon these days. With you Dave and Tony, we will be well known shortly :o)

Man, why can't they pick on someone else? I feel for you. What's the harm done, anyway? You have a sympathizer in your court! :)

Wow, I now want to be an environemental warden - what a great title!
I wish we could get one of those in DC. Not for a bag of trash...but for a whole alley of trash! A bed, chairs, a fence - your little bag would last here for decades in the shadow of e'rthing else!!! -Joel
